Lionsgate Films has been one of my favorite movie distribution banners for a long time. Don’t believe me? Ask Rach, who’ll tell you how I keep on blabbering about products from the Lionsgate stable like the Saw series of movies. I simply loved those for their amazing albeit demented storyline. Well, Lionsgate does seem to be taking an interest in these sort of movies, because there’s a new one coming out this May 25th. It’s called Bug. You can visit the Bug movie page on the Lionsgate Films website at www.lionsgate.com/bug
The movie has been directed by William Friedkin, and stars Ashley Judd. Of course, I won’t be able to tell much because (duh) the movie hasn’t been released yet, but well, it does seem interesting. Once again, as you can infer from the poster it might not be the movie you want to go and watch with your family, but it definitely seems creepy. You can watch the trailer for the movie here on YouTube. Now THAT will definitely assure you this going to one helluva scary movie. I won’t spoil your fun by discussing the trailer, because it’d take the suspense away, but it certainly is creepy.
The movie is about a waitress Agnes who works in run-down motel. She’s had a tragic past, and is trying to move on in life, and that seems to be perfect story till then, until Lionsgate tells us ‘that’s when the bugs arrive’.
This thriller then does have to do with, well, bugs. The first movie poster (look at the beginning of the post) is pretty well done, sort of cryptic and leaves the audience guessing. Perfect for a horror / thriller movie. The second poster is more to the point of the movie title. I think it can be inferred that this is going to one mad gory film, but hey, I like that! :D I just hope it’s released in India too…
