Created by ScreenLife Games, Disney Bingo is a high-tech (and fun) twist to the game of bingo. Ah yes, the same game that helps pass those rainy days. The fun thing about Disney’s offering is that it has an automated callout system, which means that everyone can join in on the fun. Given that your favorite Disney characters are included in the gameplay too would be a feature that children would simply love; and for the rest ‘older people’, would take them down the memory lane recalling their favorite Disney cartoon characters. For instance, here’s my list of Top 15 Disney characters:
- Timon (Berkowitz) & Pumbaa (Smith): Yup, that’s their last names. Betcha didn’t know that! I just love this duo, Timon’s constant selfishness, and Pumbaa’s simple-minded nature (and farting). Especially in Lion King 1 1/2. I’d probably say they are my fave characters from the Disney universe.
- Genie (again from the Aladdin series): Definitely the next funniest character after Timon & Pumbaa! When I used to watch the Aladdin cartoon series, he was one of the high points of the show.
- Iago (from the Aladdin series): Another loud-mouthed and totally selfish character, but his wisecracks are funny.
- Rafiki (from the Lion King): Rafiki, the ascetic baboon, with his life-affirming advice. Although he didn’t get much screen time on most of the Lion King movies, whatever little he did was memorable.
- Donald Duck: The topmost among my favorites from the Big Three. The way he gets angry at the slightest provocation and does that weird little jumping-up-and-down hopping mad is just. so. funny.
- Phineas & Ferb: A new series which Disney started this year, the adventures of the two brothers doing stuff next-to-impossible is worth watching. Which brings me to the next person on the list…
- …Candace Flynn (from Phineas & Ferb): I used to thing Dee-Dee would walk away with the title of Most Annoying Toon Sister, but Candace Flynn (Phineas’ brother) beats her to it. The fact that Ashley Tisdale voices the character also makes her…ahem…more ‘interesting’.
- Perry The Platypus & Dr Doofenschmirtz (also from Phineas & Ferb): The constant bickering between the super-spy platypus (who “doesn’t do much”) and his arch rival who plans to terrorize the ‘entire tri-State area’ has me ROFL, especially with its predictable sub-plot which is such a good bad PJ.
- Uncle Scrooge (from Duck Tales): Unca’ Scrooge’s love of swimming in money must only be rivaled by Cartman. Haven’t seen this toon for a long time, but way back when I was small they used to show this (they no longer do) – and it was one of my favorites.
- Pete (from Goof Troop): Yes, he makes it to the list before Goofy. And that’s because of those classic expressions he showed when he used to have his ‘pranks’ foiled by…
- …Goofy!: Dumb Goofy, and his yaaa-hoo-hoo-hoo-hooey yodel (and ahiya-ho-hoho-ho) – generally initiated by some ‘evil plan’ by Pete.
- Baloo (from the Tail Spin): The slacker cargo pilot from the TV series cartoon, not the one from the original movie classic.
- Launchpad (from Duck Tales): Another pilot on the list, this time, the character who flew aircraft for Uncle Scrooge.
- The Vultures (from Jungle Book): OK, weird choice yes, but I did like those characters in the original movie.
- The Seven Dwarfs: Favorite among them? Doc.
Ah, just typing these out reminds me of old times. Playing them in the game itself would be pretty interesting, with the game even incorporating movie clips into the gameplay in a way which doesn’t complicate the whole thing. The Disney DVD Bingo game is available on Amazon too, BTW. So…which are your Top 5 favorite Disney characters?

My top 5 favorite Disney characters would be – (In random order)
1. Baloo (I think I never missed an episode of Tail Spin)..
2. Donald Duck
3. Genie
4. Goofy (I used to and still can imitate his “ahiya-ho-hoho-ho ” even 2day very well ;-)
5. Uncle Scrooge…
Have never heard of 6,7 and 8…
Anyways, that quite reminds me of the glorious days of cartoons!
@Prateek: I truly hate the current crop of Japanese anime style cartoons which are overrunning TV these days. Disney cartoons were funny without being formulaic. You should do that Goofy ‘ahiya-ho-hoho-ho’ on stage during Code Wars. ;)
@ Ankur – Yes I truly agree with you. Though the Pokemon Series was not that bad either….(I was a fan of Pokemon for almost 1 or 2 years – Even collecting those tazos and cards) Yes, but Disney cartoons wud be Disney ;-)
Nah man that wud be 2 much to ask for…..
Can’t agree with you more.
I hate anime. And I hate it for taking over decent cartoon channels. I might not have hated anime if my favourite shows hadn’t been replaced by them.
I mean, Dexter’s Laboratory anyone? Or Pinky and the Brain? Or … Johnny Bravo?
I love Iago, yes. I love the name too.
I don’t remember the rest well enough. And the ones I do (The Genie, Rafiki, etc.), well, I don’t remember them THAT well either.
=(
I hate anime.
@Prateek: Oh come one. You could do that Goofy laugh as a part of post-victory celebration at Code Wars. ;)
@Espera: One look at the sort of toons which are aired these days…brrr…scary. Dexter’s Laboratory was quite a pleasure to watch too, particularly Dee-Dee (I’m pretty certain that she was the inspiration for Candace Flynn’s character). There are two really really hilarious South Park episodes on anime (making fun of it) – ‘Good Times With Weapons’ (“Let’s Fighting Love”…ROFL!) and ‘Chinpokomon’. Also rated among the best episodes ever by fans. Do you watch South Park?
You watch Phineas & Ferb? NO.
Unless, its just for Ashley’s voive for something.
Yeah, i LOVED baloo. I miss Talespin.
@Nids: I just LOVE Phineas and Ferb. Specifically because of its oh-so-predictable plot which is like one 22-minute long poor joke. I *love* poor jokes. The title’s a classic – “Mom, Phineas and Ferb are making a title sequence”. ROFL!
Er, no, I don’t watch South Park. Yet.
I found Dee Dee rather annoying. But without her, well, Dexter’s wouldn’t have been much fun.
Hm. Then, the Garfield series that came for the briefest period of time. But I didn’t find them as funny as the comic strip is.
D’you remember The Roadrunner Show? Tweety and Sylvester Mysteries? Atom Ant? I found the Baby Looney Tunes shit cute. Especially baby Sylvester and that really fast, spinning dude. I forget his name. The Adam’s Family? The SMURFS! Damn. They took that off air a so very long time ago. Huckleberry Hound? The All Star Laff-a-lympics?
(I just looked up a listing on Wikipedia. I didn’t remember half of them.)
@Espera: You don’t watch South Park! :O You should. You’d be totally ROFL. Actually. Whew, long list of toons you’ve given. I’ll answer them one at a time:
1. Garfield and Friends – Used to watch that quite a lot too. I saw them again a few weeks back (online), and didn’t find them funny any more! BTW, check this page out – http://www.thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=garfield_sucks
2. Roadrunner Show – Liked this one too, because it’s predictable plot is a PJ, just like Phineas and Ferb.
3. Slyvester and Tweety Mysteries – Nah, didn’t like this one that much. I found the original shorts better. (“I tot I taw a puddy tat….I did, I did!”)
4. Atom Ant – Seen it, but I don’t remember even a single episode now. Too old.
5. Baby Loony Tunes – That, and Tom and Jerry Kids. The Loony Tunes were better. The ‘spinning dude’ is the Tasmanian Devil
6. Addam’s Family – Didn’t like it that much.
7. Smurfs – Nope, not seen.
@ Ankur – Okay I will do if I win – And chances are pretty low.
Dexter and Deedee was pretty cool. And so was Johnny Bravo. The cartoons earlier used to be much better….than those availbale on TV 2day to the kiddos.
Actually, I found the Roadrunner Show rather irritating. As irritating as Popeye, mainly because they had exhausted their supply and I had seen them long enough to have memorized the old ones.
Smurfs? How could you have not seen that one? How? How? The story’s about a habitation of electric blue coloured half-naked people two-and-a-half apples tall (I forget the exact size). And they only ever had ONE female in the whole village. Kids as we were, we never wondered how the village came about with only one female. ;)
And man, you read Maddox as well? I have read a few of his posts but more discussion about his work somewhere else.
@Prateek: Believe me, the Code Wars quiz and crossword that I’m working on for this year will so totally have all teams clueless. ;) Anyone can win in that scenario.
@Espera: Electric blue? Nah, that color must have been hooloovoo. Oh yes, Maddox rules. His pages on the iPhone and Macs are something which I always send to folks who like those to devices, every so often. Just to irritate them.
@ Ankur – Thats good. Its always good to have teams clueless on stage, rite? Anyways lets hope the best team wins!
BTW, Whats happened to the Code Warriors Website (Looks like an ad for Joomla and the Exun Website has been hacked yet again or what?
Looks like the only computer club in Delhi to have an up and running functional, updated website quite surprisingly is Dynamix (Of Ramjas RKP).
@Prateek: Urm, no we haven’t been hacked. We just have been too lazy to get the site up. We will, when we ‘officially’ announce that Code Wars 2008 is on 14-15 November.
On, Maddox, yeah, he’s pretty good. His posts would have been funnier if he didn’t use “dipshit” so frequently. It somehow spoils the effect.
It helps that he’s kinda good looking too. =P
My favourite Disney characters:
1)Perry
2)Heinz
3)Candace
4)Ferb
5)Phineas
6)Genie
