This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Nexx Online. All opinions are 100% mine.
Most bloggers start off working on free hosted platforms such as Blogger.com and WordPress.com, but to be honest everyone dreams of moving on to their own hosted blog some day or the other because of the amount of freedom and flexibility that it gives to you in aspects such as design (this is probably one of the biggest draws of having your own hosted blog), the type of content that you can host, the features that you can add, et al. And more often than not, the biggest barrier is the fairly daunting initial bill that you’ve to fork out to get your own domain and hosting. Quite rightfully, a lot of you in this position feel apprehensive about investing money into such a bold move because you don’t know whether you can sustain paying for your blog – indeed, whether you’d even be interested enough in blogging to continue wanting to pay bills.
So precisely for folks like you, Nexx.com’s limited time offer of Unlimited Web Hosting with free domain name for just $10 is a don’t-miss opportunity. What do you get for your 10 bucks? You own domain name for free (with free ‘private registration’ that usually costs an extra $10 with most other companies), unlimited disk space, unlimited bandwidth, unlimited number of email accounts (with 500 MB storage space per email account). If this is the first time you’re getting started with blogging – and many of you might be – Nexx.com makes the learning curve easy for you by including the standard one-click install solutions for popular software such as WordPress, along with easy web-based management interface. Help is within easy reach with 24/7 email and phone support. You also get freebies thrown in such as free Google and Facebook advertising credits worth $50 each. To redeem this offer, use the promotional code ‘SPARK10′ when placing your order.

The account is not stunted as far as features go. You’ve support for PHP4/5, Perl, Python, Ruby on Rails, 30 MySQL databases, SSH access. You also have support for IonCube – which provides extra security to PHP scripts running on your site. As far as technical features go, you can use this not only for a blog but also to pilot any other site or web-based service. Sure, the $10 you pay is just for the first year (and this offer is being made because Nexx rebranded its hosting service recently) because from year 2 onwards you’ll have to pay the standard price which is around $70 per year – but this a very fair price for the features that you’re getting. You’ll be hard-pressed to find better deals with other hosts.
Putting the ‘unlimited’ tag on any web hosting plan is usually a marketing gimmick, since no host can truly provide you unlimited resources. However, one thing that does set Nexx apart from many others who claim to offer ‘unlimited’ plans is that they use a clustered hosting environment, which (in theory) can scale up or down the amount of resources allocated to your account – so that traffic spikes can’t knock out your blog/site.
I’ll be honest – I love the deal that they’re offering but I won’t be shifting myself since I’m already tied in to a multi-year hosting deal. As I spoke earlier, I’m fairly happy with my host but at times traffic surges do slow my site down horribly because it’s not hosted on a clustered / (virtual) dedicated server. The audience that will find Nexx.com’s limited-time offer appealing will be first-time webmasters who want to graduate on to self-hosting blogs and such. $10 for domain and hosting is dirt cheap – and this is a perfect opportunity to jump on to the bandwagon without sinking too much money. If you like the flexibility of self-hosting (and you probably will!), you get a really good deal for consequent years too.

One thing I have observed is that there is no such thing as unlimited in web hosting. I have a bluehost account due to expire soon and let me assure the the amount of TOS and caveats with the ‘unlimited’ hosting is just too much for a decent traffic website.
Have decided to switch to a normal friendly and good host, will keep you updated of the search :)
Ooh and the clustered thing is as big as an eyewash as unlimited.
The problem with ‘unlimited’ hosting is that while they may be willing to oversell and ‘offer’ ungodly amounts of storage and bandwidth, what is usually restricted is the number of simultaneous connections that can be made, or the amount of time your one script can run on the server.
yes and can you imagine they routinely keep time outing my posts with 400 comments or so. Its like someone loads that page and they lower my CPu access for a minute.
Why don’t you use a caching plugin? I use DB Cache Reloaded, but for your case WP Super Cache would probably be better.
Also, is your theme able to paginate comments? If not, consider changing theme. Many new themes allow you to define a maximum number of comments to show on one page and then paginate comments. Switching to a new theme will also enable other stuff you’re missing now such as threaded replies.
have been using supercache, strange thing is even when I access my page and check its a cached page delivered, they lower my cpu. Really stupid of them, have decided to move and have found a good host :) , will be posting the story and the new host on my blog.
Looking forward to that! Are you moving to VPS?
Thinking abt getting hosted there… but don’t you think this is no profit no loss deal.Since 80$ for 2 years is very normal.Infact dreamhost if offering the same deal 45$ for 2 yrs with free domain and other stuff.
If I decide to go with their deal for 1yr getting a free domain as well. What would be the procedure to shift my hosting as well as domain to a new registrar/host after 1 yr.Will it really result in some major downtime.
Does Dreamhost really have a plan that cheap? As far as I remember, they used to quote a low monthly price BUT it was valid only if you subscribed for 7-10 years in advance. So you might want to check that amount Dreamhost is quoting.
Transferring domains is fairly easy and can be done quite easily – most registrars have automated systems to handle transfers. Hosting is a bit trickier, but it can be done. WordPress itself has a handy guide on shifting hosts.
Yes, if you visit their site you’ll see they say they offer $1.95/mo hosting. If you signup its say 1.95*24 ~ 47$ For 2yrs.
Here’s the pic..

Hmm, sounds like an interesting offer. How do you access this promo? I don’t see the link on their site.
Might just be exclusive to India.Don’t you see 1.95$/mo on their home page. When you click on signup you get to see those 3 hosting plans.
Visited your blog after longtime… got used to reading feeds…
To be very frank… I don’t like this new theme.. Might be very different from others. But really the Genki theme was really awesome. It made it very easy to browser archives….
Any plans of changing theme again… Go for a white one…
Well, the point is that since I’ve been blogging for such a long time, my list of archives and categories was ballooning out of proportion. Many times what would happen is that on the shorter posts the content would run out long before the sidebar ended, thus forcing people to scroll through a sea of nothingness in the main content area.
I like this new theme because it puts focus on the content without any distracting navigation. By giving the search box more prominence, the idea is that visitors can search for the information they want, rather than using the navigation – which, to be frank, very less people did – most people used search instead.
Agreed with you about the navigation thing…
You wanted to focus more on content… but still I’d say you should go for one with light background color.More over you they typography of the theme too isn’t great…And I’m sure nobody likes to see a horizontal scrollbar. I think you know more about wp themes than me….
This was only my suggestion.Ofcourse this is your blog so it has to be your choice.
You’re seeing a horizontal scrollbar? What’s your screen resolution?
I usually go for light background themes too. Wanted to try something new this time.
My resolution is 1152×864…
I noticed that horizontal scrollbar was just exclusive to this post owing to the big banner image in the center.
P.S – Nice to see you use Google Fonts API.
Oh, I see why you’re getting a horizontal scrollbar now.
By default, my theme is supposed to use Helvetica Nueve, but precious little people outside of Mac users have that font on their computer. I wanted something different than plain vanilla fonts found on PCs, and the ways to do that are limited to Google Fonts API, Typekit, and a few others. Typekit doesn’t give you very many fonts without a subscription, so I went with Google Font Directory. There aren’t many sans-serif fonts on their list apart from Cantarell (which I’m using now) and Droid Sans.
